Citizen, Eh? · Privacy Policy

Last updated November 7, 2026

Citizen, Eh? is a study app for the Canadian citizenship test, made by 18050309 Canada Inc. (Yava Concept) ("we", "us"). This policy explains, in plain words, what information we collect, why, who helps us handle it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.

The short version

  • There are no accounts and no sign-in. Your study progress and settings stay on your phone, and we never receive them.
  • We do not collect your name or email address through the app.
  • You buy plans from Apple or Google. We never see your card or bank details.
  • No ads. No usage analytics. No tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • You can erase everything at any time: in the app (Settings, then Erase everything on this phone), or by deleting the app.

Who we are, and who is responsible

Citizen, Eh? is made by 18050309 Canada Inc. (Yava Concept), Ontario, Canada.

Citizen, Eh? is an independent study app. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Government of Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The person in charge of protecting personal information (our privacy officer) is 18050309 Canada Inc. (Yava Concept), owner of the Citizen, Eh? app. Contact: support@yavaconcept.com, +1 416-830-2377, 18 Vankirk Rd, Scarborough, ON M1P 1M7, Canada.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps these things only on your phone. We do not receive them.

  • Your study progress: pages read, quiz scores, stamps, every mock exam with your answers and score, the questions you missed, the questions you have cleared, and your study streak.
  • Your settings: your test date (if you enter one), whether the daily reminder is on and its time, sound, reading voice and speed, language, help with hard words, motion, and your daily goal.
  • The key facts you ticked as known, and whether we already asked how your test went.
  • Which plan this phone has unlocked.
  • A random customer number that RevenueCat's software makes on the phone to check your purchases (see "What we collect"). It is not your name, your email address, a serial number or an advertising identifier.
  • If saved data ever turns out to be unreadable, the app keeps a backup copy of it on the phone so that nothing is lost.
  • The daily reminder is scheduled on the phone itself. It does not come from our servers.

"Start the trail again" (in Settings) clears your stamps, lesson progress and weak spots. Your mock exam history, streak and settings stay.

"Erase everything on this phone" (in Settings) removes everything the app keeps on the phone, as if you had just installed it. Your plan is not lost: it stays with your App Store or Google Play account.

Deleting the app also removes what it stored on the phone. If your phone backs up its apps (for example to iCloud or Google), that backup may keep a copy, under your own backup settings.

What we collect, and why

We receive very little: only what our server and website need to answer, what is needed to check a purchase, and the messages you send us.

WhatWhenWhy, and what exactly we keep
IP address and request detailsThe app checks whether it is online, or you visit our websiteThe app asks our server "am I online?" to check its connection. This request carries no study progress, name or email address. Like any website, our server's host, Vercel, keeps request logs, which include your IP address. We use them only to keep our server and website working and secure. We never use them to find your location.
Purchase informationYou buy a plan or tap Restore purchasesTo unlock the trail on your phone. RevenueCat's software in the app sends RevenueCat the random customer number made on your phone (never your name or email address), the store receipt and your purchase records, and basic technical details such as app version and operating system. RevenueCat checks the purchase with Apple or Google and tells the app which plan is unlocked. Our server does not receive or store purchase records. We never receive your card or bank details.
Messages you send usYou write to support@yavaconcept.comTo answer you. We keep your email address, your message and our reply.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, files, microphone recordings, your phone's advertising identifier, or your browsing history. The app plays sounds but never records audio.

No analytics, no crash reports, no ads. The app and our server contain no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking tool. If we ever add one, we will update this policy and the app store privacy answers first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it. RevenueCat does show us reports about purchases (for example, how many plans were bought), made from the purchase information described above.

Our website (citizeneh.app) sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, loads nothing from other websites and contains no analytics.

Notifications. The daily reminder is a local notification set on your phone. We do not collect a push token.

Emails. The app has no sign-in, and we send no emails from it. We write to you only to reply when you write to us.

Who helps us (service providers)

These companies handle information for us, only to run the Citizen, Eh? app. Each has agreed in writing to protect it and to use it only to provide its service to us.

ProviderWhat it does for usWhat it handlesWhere
Vercel Inc.Runs our server (which only answers the app's "am I online?" check) and our website (citizeneh.app)Request logs, which include IP addressesUnited States (Washington, D.C. area); requests pass through the Vercel location nearest you
RevenueCat, Inc.Checks purchases with Apple and Google for us, through its software in the appThe random customer number made on your phone (never your name or email address), your purchase records, the store receipt, and basic technical details such as app version and operating systemUnited States
Apple Inc.App Store payments, delivering the appPurchase information under Apple's own privacy policyUnited States and other countries
Google LLCGoogle Play payments, delivering the app, and our support mailbox (Google Workspace)Purchase information under Google's own privacy policy; the email you send to our support addressUnited States and other countries

Apple and Google also process your purchase under their own privacy policies, because you buy from them, not from us.

What our server's logs hold (kept by Vercel): the request logs described above, with IP addresses. They hold no study progress, names or email addresses.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or with a buyer if Citizen, Eh? is ever sold, under the same promises as this policy.

Information outside Canada and outside Quebec

Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, mostly in the United States. While it is there, the laws of that country apply, and its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities may be able to get access to it. Before we send personal information outside Quebec (or outside Canada), we assess whether it will be properly protected there, and we use written contracts with each provider.

How long we keep it

InformationHow long we keep it
What the app keeps on your phoneUntil you erase it in Settings or delete the app. We never receive it.
Request logs at Vercel (which include IP addresses)Up to 30 days, then deleted automatically by Vercel.
Purchase recordsOur server does not store them. RevenueCat keeps them to provide its service to us, under our agreement with it. Apple and Google keep theirs under their own privacy policies.
Messages you send us2 years after our last reply.

Erasing your information

Your study progress and settings exist only on your phone. To erase them:

  • In the app: Settings, then Erase everything on this phone.
  • Delete the app. This also removes what it stored on the phone.

We cannot bring this information back, because we never had a copy.

On our side there is almost nothing to erase: the messages you sent us, request logs that Vercel deletes on its own within 30 days, and the purchase record RevenueCat keeps for us. To have your messages or that purchase record deleted, write to support@yavaconcept.com (for a purchase record, include the order number from your store receipt).

Your plan. A plan belongs to your App Store or Google Play account. Erasing the app's data or deleting the app does not remove it: use Restore purchases (in Settings) to unlock the trail again, on this phone or a new one.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple or Google bills it. Cancel it in your phone's subscription settings (in the app: Settings, then Manage or cancel).

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • See the personal information we hold about you, and learn how we use it and who we share it with.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your information (see above).
  • Get a copy of the information you gave us, in a structured, common format (for example JSON) that you can take elsewhere.
  • Withdraw your consent. You can stop using the app, and delete it, at any time.

We hold very little about you: the messages you send us, and request logs that are deleted within 30 days. Your study progress is on your phone, not with us.

Write to support@yavaconcept.com. We answer within 30 days, and it costs nothing. To protect you, we reply only to the email address the request came from. If we cannot do what you ask, we explain why in writing.

Concerns and complaints

Write to our privacy officer at support@yavaconcept.com or 18 Vankirk Rd, Scarborough, ON M1P 1M7, Canada. We will look into it and answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to:

  • the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or
  • if you live in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).

Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA)

We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA):

  • We are responsible for the information we hold, and we have named a person in charge of it (above).
  • We tell you why we collect information, and we collect only what we need for that purpose.
  • We ask for your consent. The app has no sign-in, and you can use it without giving us your name or email address.
  • We do not use or share your information for other purposes without asking you, unless the law requires it.
  • We keep information only as long as we need it, and we have set how long (above).
  • We protect it with safeguards that fit how sensitive it is (see "Security").
  • We keep a record of every breach of security safeguards. If a breach could cause you significant harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as soon as we can.

If you live in Quebec

Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as updated by Law 25) also applies:

  • Person in charge. Our person in charge of the protection of personal information is named above. Their title and contact details are also published on https://citizeneh.app.
  • How we handle personal information. Who is responsible, how long we keep each kind of information and how we destroy it, and how we handle complaints are described in this policy (see "How long we keep it" and "Concerns and complaints") and on https://citizeneh.app.
  • Outside Quebec. Before we send personal information outside Quebec, we carry out a privacy impact assessment and make sure, by written contract, that it will be properly protected.
  • Incidents. We keep a register of every confidentiality incident for at least five years. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will tell you and the Commission d'accès à l'information.
  • Portability. You can ask for a copy of the information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Privacy by default. We do not use technology that identifies you, locates you or builds a profile of you.
  • Automated decisions. We make no decision about you by automated means.
  • Children. Citizen, Eh? is not meant for children under 14. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Children

Citizen, Eh? is made for adults preparing for the citizenship test. It is not directed at children. You must be at least 14 to use it. If you think a child has given us information, write to support@yavaconcept.com and we will delete it.

Security

  • All traffic between the app and our server, and to our website, is encrypted (HTTPS).
  • Your study progress stays on your phone and is never sent to us.
  • There are no accounts or passwords to protect.
  • Only the people who run Citizen, Eh? can reach our systems.

No system is perfect; if something goes wrong, we will tell you as described above.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters (for example, we start collecting something new), we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
